Our heating and cooling investigation and how we support children to develop claims and evidence were featured in the National Academies Practitioner Volume for preschool and elementary science engineering instruction!

This paper describes how we used models to motivate investigations and support explanation in our fifth grade Matter Investigation. It describes how teachers can use multiple models to support meaningful science practice and progress on big ideas.

We presented our design principles, an example design, and our implementation tools at the National Science Foundation's DRK-12 Grantees Meeting.
